JR was born in Manila but had his "pagbibinata" years in the US. He was 2 years old when his parents moved to LA to work there. He was 12 when finally he flew to the US with Kuya Arjei to finally be with his parents (then eventually his Ate Sunshine and Kuya Dawn followed). Even if they've been in the US for so long, Filipino tradition especially speaking tagalog never left their culture.
At first glance, you would think he's the typical mayabang and suplado. But when one gets to know him better he's the funniest friend one can have. He can be wacky and sentimental at the same time. He's known to have several doppelgangers, one of them is Stefan Salvatore. Part of JR's daily routine is workout and play ball. It's like his water. This is one thing that's totally opposite about Jan (we'll expound on that later).
JR works as a Support Specialist in an Interactive Communications company in Glendale for almost 5 years already. If one will look at JR at a high level view, he's one friend that a person would not want to lose.
Jan is a year older than JR. She was born in Batangas but was raised in the province of Cavite as the youngest among the 4 daughters. During her teenage years, she got separated with her dad when he moved to the US and started working there. She grew up to be the achiever among the family, trying to follow her father's footsteps.
Unlike JR, Jan is a homebody who would just want to read a book, munch on junk food and sleep. She is daddy's girl and mom's alalay also. "Bunso", as how her dad calls her is a frustrated interior designer. Although she wanted to be one, she figured taking up an IT course would be more practical. At the age of 31, she's established a career in IT working as a Business Systems Analyst at a Canadian Telecommunications company.
HOW THEY MET
"Hey, it's my birthday today. Can I take a picture with you?" It was the last year of 2012 when surprisingly, Jan finally agreed to go out with her friend Sarah and celebrate in advance her 30th birthday - at a club. Meanwhile, JR was on vacation with his cousins and sibling. JR saw Jan and the epic line was said by the boy. They didn't really hung out that much. But before Jan left for an urgent conference meeting at work, JR was able to get her number and then...
HOW THEY CLICKED
..The following day after they met, JR sent Jan an SMS. After some "kwentuhan", they went out on a date. It was few days before he went back to the US. Jan thought it was just dinner, so why not? JR got to the place 2 hours before their date, and unfortunately due to bad traffic, Jan was late. It was during this date that Jan got totally hyped about getting to know JR. They got to know each other better realizing they had so much in common. From TV series to movies they watch and just about anything under the sun. The guy she thought who was mayabang and suplado didn't seem like it. As how Jan described that night - never a dull moment.
Then the rest is history :)
